About the Founder
Born and raised in western Belize, I developed a deep fascination with nature, the history of Belize, and our ancestral heritage from an early age. Growing up in a family of Guatemalan farmers, I cultivated a strong connection with the land—embracing the values of growing our own food, caring for the environment, and learning from the natural world. These early experiences shaped my passion for exploration and storytelling, ultimately guiding me toward a lifelong career in tourism and cultural exchange.

To pursue this calling, I completed a Tour Guiding Program at the Cayo Centre for Employment Training (CCET), one of Belize’s most recognised institutions for career and professional development. This formal training provided me with a strong foundation in guiding principles, safety, and interpretation, complementing my personal experience and deep local knowledge.
Over the years, my curiosity and commitment to cultural immersion have led me to travel extensively through Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and across Belize broadening my understanding of regional cultures, traditions, and natural environments. These journeys continue to inspire the approach I bring to each tour.
I am a certified general tour guide with specialized experience in Maya archaeology, botany, and ornithology, as well as certifications in Scuba Diving and spelunking. I have over 10 years of professional experience working with Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort, one of Belize’s top eco-resorts.
As the founder and owner of Jacamar Eco-Cultural Tours, my mission is to share the authentic beauty of Belize with visitors from around the world through meaningful, responsible, and transformative experiences that celebrate both nature and culture. With strong skills in environmental interpretation, outdoor leadership, and cultural mediation, I strive to promote sustainable tourism that honours our people, our land, and our shared heritage.
