5 + Star Review for Jacamar Eco-Cultural Tours

Bernabe explaining to Belize Acheological Tourists

First impression when meeting Bern was that we were already in good hands. He managed to eloquently answer all of our questions and address any doubts we may have had. Excellent communication and coordination on their part.

Our guide, Axel, picked us up exactly when he said he would. Took us for a literal breakfast and drove us to Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve. Excellent and safe driving. Axel is very perceptive and gave us invaluable insight on Belizean culture, customs, traditions and the best local spots to hit up. We never had the feeling he was talking too much; rather, he intrigued us and somehow managed to answer all 1,000+ questions we had, leaving us curious to gain more of his knowledge.

Transportation was clean, safe & comfortable, and Axel is an excellent driver, all the while pointing out and providing quips on interesting things whilst en route.

Upon arriving in Xunantunich, Axel took care of every detail, from ensuring we had all the gear, water and comforts we might need at the Archaeological Reserve. One would be hard-pressed to find a more knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We knew that Axel loves his job, and it shows. He is incredibly learned on Mayan ruins, reads Mayan hieroglyphs, an expert level on Belizean biodiversity (a “Birder” to boot), and somehow managed to point out things which would have easily been overlooked.

Following an amazing tour of Xunantunich, we left feeling hungry and in need of a bit of downtime, this did not go unnoticed. Axel took us for an amazing & delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

Rested, recharged and revived, we headed out for our next adventure of tubing down a lazy river.

Whilst being transported to the Cave's Branch river, Axel was cognizant of our post hike weariness and made the drive comfortable and easy.

Upon arriving at Cave's Branch we were introduced to Abel, who would guide us through the jungle to the river. Wow, what an amazing experience! Abel was also very knowledgeable, professional, informative and kind. He worked hard to drag and guide 3 uber-relaxed tubers down the refreshing river, through a network of beautiful caves (otherworldly), stopping along the way to enjoy jungle views through “cave windows” and swim in crystal clear pools of water. An Amazing experience and the perfect mixture of two excursions in one day.

Back under Axel’s care, we were transported back to our lodging.

Collectively, the 3 of us felt lucky to have found Jacamar Eco-Cultural Tours. They provide a 5 Star experience at modest prices. They make it their business and pleasure to be as informative as the group wants and offer a big menu of excursions and adventures.

Before dropping us off at our lodge we were already booked for our next Excursion to ATM caves (Axel is 1 of only 62 guides, countrywide for the ATM archaeological reserve).

We can’t wait to experience and learn what we can.

Sincerely, a beautiful experience! Highly recommended!
